Workflow guide

A practical operator-friendly explanation of how this automation works.

4 sections

How it works

This workflow turns “we have numbers” into “we have decision-ready evidence.” It starts with a knowledge-base first response (so common definitions and policies are consistent), then guides the operator through a short menu of decision-shaped checks: which branch numbers to trust, how to spot dirty signal, when to lean on automation, how to use messy evidence without sanding off the truth, and what teams misread in branch comparisons and attribution.

The goal isn’t to make people academic—it’s to stop confident meetings from sprinting off a cliff because the data looked clean, the chart was pretty, and nobody asked the one ugly question.

Key features

  • Knowledge-base-first guidance, with routing to human help when needed
  • Button-based menu so leaders can jump straight to the decision they’re trying to make
  • Practical “smell tests” for dirty signal (definitions, timing, incentives, missingness)
  • Clear guardrails for when automation is safe vs when human judgment must override
  • One-tap handoff to an Insights/Analytics team for situations that deserve escalation

Step-by-step

  1. Input receives a user message (a question, a worry, or a screenshot of a metric).
  2. Knowledge Base Policy answers from your approved guidance first; if it can’t, it falls through to routing.
  3. Decision menu presents five options (trust the numbers, spot dirty signal, automation vs judgment, messy evidence into insight, branch comparisons & attribution).
  4. An IF branch routes the user to the chosen topic.
  5. A text message delivers a short, decision-ready checklist with common failure modes.
  6. A follow-up menu asks whether they want another topic or to talk to an analyst.
  7. If they choose Talk to an analyst, a fallback handoff routes the conversation to the Insights team.

Setup requirements

  • No external credentials required.
  • Configure the Insights department (or equivalent) in Calypso so the handoff destination is valid.
